STIGMATIZATION, DEPRESSION, AND AGE AS CORRELATES OF BURDEN OF CARE AMONG CAREGIVERS OF THE MENTALLY ILL PATIENTS, NAWFIA
Abstract
This study investigated stigmatization, depression, and age as correlates of burden of care experienced by caregivers of individuals with mental health disorders. A total of 197 caregivers of mentally ill patients who are receiving treatment for psychiatric conditions were recruited for the study from Neuropsychiatric hospital, Nawfia, Anambra state ,Nigeria. The group consisted of 54.3% males and 45.7% females, with an average age of 25.8 and a standard deviation of 8.2. The instruments used for assessment were the self-rating depression scale, internalized stigma of mental illness, and the burden of care schedule. The researchers used a purposive sampling technique to select and include participants in their study. The research employed a correlation study design and utilized Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient statistics. The findings showed a strong correlation between stigmatization and the burden of care experienced by caregivers of mentally ill patients, with a correlation coefficient of.613 (df = 8(188/196), f = 58.113, p Also, the second hypothesis was accepted indicating a significant correlation between depression and burden of care among caregivers at (r. =.438, df = 8(188/196), f = 58.113, sig =.000 p The third hypothesis was also accepted indicating a significant correlation between age and burden of care among caregivers at (r. =.412, df = 8(188/196), f = 58.113, sig =.000 p respectively. The study suggested that it is crucial to launch anti-stigma campaigns, seminars and educational programs to tackle the stigma surrounding mental illness within the community. Psychological assessment is highly recommended for caregivers.

Environmental Stressors on Psychological and Physical Well-being on Mid-Life
Abstract
The mid-life stage is a critical period characterized by significant physiological, psychological, and social changes. During this stage, individuals often face various environmental stressors, such as work demands, financial difficulties, and family responsibilities, which can impact their overall well-being. This paper provides an in-depth review of the concepts of environmental stressors, psychological well-being, and physical well-being, and the complex relationship between these factors at the mid-life stage. Environmental stressors can have a direct impact on both psychological and physical well-being, as well as an indirect impact through the interactions between these two domains. Maintaining psychological and physical well-being is crucial during the mid-life stage, as individuals may face increased risk of chronic health conditions and mental health problems. Understanding the interplay between environmental stressors, psychological well-being, and physical well-being is essential for developing effective interventions and strategies to support individuals during the mid-life stage. By addressing both psychological and physical well-being, practitioners can take a more holistic approach to promoting overall health and well-being.

ROLES OF PARENTAL CARE AND RELIGIOUS DEVOTION ON ANXIETY EXPERIENCE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS HOMOSEXUALITY OF SEMINARIANS
Abstract
The study examined the influence of parental care and religious devotion on the anxiety experiences and attitudes towards homosexuality of seminarians in Anambra State. Participants comprised two hundred and seven (207) seminarians in Anambra State selected using a simple random sampling technique. The ages of the participants ranged from 14 to 18 years, with a mean age of 14.86 and a standard deviation of.99. Four instruments were used in this study: The Parental Care Inventory by Parker, Tupling, and Brown (1979), the Religious Affiliation Scale (RAS) by Omoluabi (1995), the Symptom Distress Checklist 90 (SCL-90) developed by Derogatis, Lipman, and Covi (1977), and the Homosexuality Attitude Scale (HAS) developed by Kite and Deaux (1986). A correlational survey design was employed in this study, which made use of the Pearson moment correctional coefficient as the statistical tool. The result showed that parental care has a significant negative relationship with the anxiety experiences of seminarians (r = -.18, p.010), parental care has no significant relationship with the attitude towards homosexuality of seminarians (r =.11, p >.104), religious devotion has no significant relationship with the anxiety experiences of seminarians (r =.11, p >.101), and religious devotion has a significant positive relationship with the attitude towards homosexuality of seminarians (r =.31, p.000). Following these results, the implications of the study were examined, the limitations of the study were highlighted, recommendations were made, and suggestions for further studies were proposed.

CORRELATES OF PERSONALITY TRAITS AND FINANCIAL STRESS IN MARITAL DISILLUSIONMENT AMONG MARRIED PERSONS IN ONITSHA METROPOLIS, ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between personality traits, financial stress, and marital disillusionment among married persons in Anambra State. A total of 138 participants (62 males and 76 females), aged between 18 and 80 years (M = 28.3, SD = 4.84), were selected using cluster, purposive, and incidental sampling methods. The study adopted a correlational research design and utilized three standardized instruments: The Big Five Inventory (BFI), the Financial Stress Scale, and the Marital Disillusionment Questionnaire (MDQ). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Findings revealed a significant negative correlation between personality traits and marital disillusionment (r = –0.421, p < 0.05), indicating that individuals exhibiting higher levels of positive traits—such as agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness—were less likely to experience dissatisfaction or emotional withdrawal in their marriages. Conversely, financial stress demonstrated a significant positive relationship with marital disillusionment (r = 0.376, p < 0.05), suggesting that increased financial strain heightens marital tension, emotional disconnection, and dissatisfaction. These results highlight the joint influence of individual and contextual factors on marital stability. The study recommends that marriage counselling and relationship enrichment programs integrate both psychological interventions that foster personality growth and economic empowerment initiatives that alleviate financial strain among couples.

ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION AS CORRELATES OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL ADOLESCENTS IN ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract
This study investigated anxiety and depression as correlates of emotional intelligence among secondary school adolescents in Anambra state. Participants used were 400 students (219=girls and 181= boys) from 12-18 years of age from four secondary schools. Stratified random sampling was used. A correlational research design was used for the study. The study used standardized questionnaires – Schutte Self Report Emotional Intelligence (SSEIT) Test and the Revised Childs Adolescent Scale (RCADS). The statistics used are the Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Linear Regression Analysis. The result showed that Anxiety did not correlate significantly with Emotional Intelligence. Depression did not correlate significantly with Emotional Intelligence. Anxiety and Depression also did not have a joint significant effect on Emotional Intelligence. It is suggested that broader research should be conducted in order to know and understand what influences emotional intelligence among this population.Again, qualitative research method should be conducted in order to have a deep understanding of the relationship between emotional intelligence, anxiety and depression in this population.
